This was a double project that came to us here in Birmingham from a single owner. An Audi RS6 and a BMW S 1000 RR, both to be wrapped in the same colour. The brief was clear: one finish, one colour, across four wheels and two. The vinyl chosen was High Definition Passionate Purple, a deep, bold violet that sits in a category of its own. The owner wanted both vehicles to read as a pair, and that is exactly what they do.
Passionate Purple Carries Depth Without Needing a Gloss Finish to Do the Work
Passionate Purple from the High Definition range is not a colour that needs gloss to announce itself. The pigment is dense and the violet sits deep in the film. On the RS6, which carries large, wide body panels, a gloss would have created heavy reflections and shifted attention to the surface rather than the colour. The HD film holds the hue evenly across those broad sections without flaring. The same applies to the S 1000 RR. A motorcycle has far more complex curves and tight transitions than a car. The colour needed to read cleanly across fairings, the tank and the bodywork panels. It does. Both vehicles share the same depth of colour in different lighting conditions, which is exactly what the owner wanted.
Wrapping a Motorcycle Alongside a Car Requires Two Distinct Approaches to the Same Job
An RS6 is a large estate with long flat runs and deep curves around the arches. A BMW S 1000 RR is built from small, tightly contoured panels that meet at sharp angles. Both were wrapped here at our Birmingham studio and both required different handling. On the RS6, we wrapped each major panel as a single piece where the geometry allowed, pulling the film around edges and tucking it out of sight. The badges came off so the wrap could sit flush across the bodywork. On the bike, we worked panel by panel, applying heat and tension carefully to seat the film into the recesses without distortion or lifting at the edges. The colour match across both vehicles is consistent. That consistency does not happen by accident. It comes from working methodically and not cutting corners on the preparation or the application process.
The Factory Finish on Both Vehicles Is Fully Protected and Preserved
Vinyl wrap is a surface layer. Underneath it, the original paintwork on both the RS6 and the S 1000 RR is untouched. The film acts as a barrier against stone chips, minor abrasion and UV exposure. For a motorcycle, which operates in closer proximity to road debris than a car, that protection is a practical benefit as much as a cosmetic one. When the owner wants to remove the wrap at any point, either vehicle can be returned to its factory colour cleanly. Nothing is committed to permanently. That is one of the reasons colour change wrapping has become the method of choice for owners who want to alter their vehicle without affecting its value or its factory specification.
