This Mercedes G63 AMG came into our Birmingham studio for two things: a full Brabus body kit installation and a complete wrap in Nardo Grey. The owner wanted the car transformed in both form and colour. The Brabus kit changes the silhouette considerably, widening the arches and sharpening the overall stance. We fitted every panel of the kit first, then wrapped the car once the new bodywork was in place and sitting correctly. That order matters. You wrap the finished shape, not the original one.
Nardo Grey Works on the Brabus G63 Because the Colour and the Kit Share the Same Character
Nardo Grey is a flat, cool tone with no metallic content. It does not catch the light the way a silver or a gloss would. On a standard G63 that restraint might feel understated, but on the Brabus kit it is exactly right. The wider arches and the squared-off body panels have strong, deliberate lines. A flat grey lets those shapes read clearly without the distraction of a shifting, reflective surface. The colour sits on the car rather than competing with it.
The Satin Finish Holds Its Tone Through Birminghams Variable Light
We used a satin finish rather than a full matte. Satin gives the grey a slight depth that a dead matte can sometimes lack, particularly on a car this size. A gloss would have been too much. It would have introduced highlights and reflections that work against the flat character of Nardo Grey. The satin sits between the two. In direct sunlight it reads clean and even. Under the overcast light you get in Birmingham for much of the year it holds its colour without looking washed out. It was the right call for this car in this climate.
Fitting the Brabus Kit Before Wrapping Required Precise Panel Sequencing
Installing the body kit first meant the wrap had to be planned around the new panel geometry. The Brabus kit introduces different edges, gaps and curves compared to the factory bodywork. We wrapped each panel as a single piece where the size allowed it. Edges were tucked cleanly so there are no visible termination lines. The wider arches in particular needed careful attention because the material has to follow a compound curve over a larger surface area than the original guards. We took the time to work each section flat and free of tension before committing the adhesive. The result is a finish with no lifting edges and no visible patchwork.
The Factory Paint and the New Bodywork Are Both Protected and Fully Reversible
The wrap sits over the factory paint on the original panels and over the primer and finish on the Brabus kit. Neither is affected by the vinyl. If the owner ever wants to remove the wrap, the underlying surfaces come away undamaged. The vinyl itself provides a layer of protection against light stone chips, road contamination and UV fading during its life on the car. This is not a permanent alteration. The owner has a transformed car that can be returned to standard or changed again at any point.
