Lamborghini Huracán Hexis Super Chrome Green Wrap in Birmingham

This Lamborghini Huracán came into our Birmingham studio finished in its factory colour. The owner had a clear brief: a full colour change wrap using Hexis Super Chrome Green. No partial sections, no accents. The entire car, including the mirrors, door shuts, and visible panel edges, wrapped in a mirror-chrome green finish. We used Hexis Super Chrome Green vinyl throughout and carried out a full exterior colour change to complete the transformation.

Why This Finish Works on the Huracán

The Huracán is a car built around surface. The body panels are sculpted with sharp feature lines, deep concave sections, and wide, sweeping flanks. A chrome finish does not hide those details. It amplifies them. Every crease in the bodywork becomes more defined because the reflective surface picks up light differently across each plane. Hexis Super Chrome Green adds colour to that reflection, shifting between deep greens and vivid, almost electric tones depending on the angle and the light source. On a more upright or boxy car, a finish like this can feel excessive. On the Huracán, it reads as a direct extension of the car’s design intent.

The Technical Considerations of Wrapping a Huracán

Chrome and chrome-effect films are among the most demanding materials to work with. They have very little stretch tolerance compared to standard cast vinyls. On a car like the Huracán, where compound curves and tight radii appear regularly across the bodywork, that presents real challenges. Any attempt to force the material into a complex curve without the correct technique will result in micro-tears or stress lines that show under the reflective surface. We planned the panel sections carefully before laying any film, working out where relief cuts were needed and where sections had to be run separately to maintain a clean finish. The door handles, mirror housings, and the areas around the intakes all required individual attention. The result has to be consistent across the whole car. On a chrome finish, inconsistency is immediately visible.

Throughout the installation we worked at controlled temperatures to keep the film responsive without making it unpredictable. Post-heat was applied at every edge to ensure the material was fully set before the car left the studio.

Paint Protection and Reversibility

A Lamborghini Huracán carries significant value. Protecting the factory paint is a practical concern, not just an aesthetic one. The Hexis film sits over the original paintwork and acts as a physical barrier against stone chips, light abrasion, and UV exposure. The factory colour underneath remains untouched. When the owner decides to return the car to its original finish, the wrap can be removed cleanly without affecting the paint, provided the original paintwork was in good condition before application. This is one of the primary reasons owners of high value cars choose wrapping over a respray. A respray is permanent and can affect the car’s value and originality.
