This Ferrari SF90 came into our Birmingham studio with a clear brief. The owner wanted a full colour change away from the factory finish and had settled on Gulf Blue. It is a shade that carries serious motorsport heritage and, on a car like the SF90, it makes a deliberate and considered statement. We carried out a full vinyl wrap across the entire car, covering every exterior panel in Gulf Blue.
Gulf Blue Works on the SF90 Because It Counters the Aggression of the Bodywork
The SF90 is a visually complex car. The bodywork is full of sharp lines, deep intakes and sculpted surfaces that are already doing a great deal of work. Wrapping it in red, the colour most people associate with Ferrari, amplifies that aggression. Gulf Blue does something different. It is a mid-tone blue with enough depth to shift under different lighting conditions, and it reads as calm against the drama of the SF90s silhouette. The contrast between the colour choice and the car’s character is exactly what made this combination work. It is not a subtle car, but the colour makes it feel considered rather than loud.
Every Panel Was Wrapped as a Single Piece to Eliminate Visible Seams
On a car of this value and profile, the standard of installation has to match the quality of the material. We wrapped each panel as a single piece wherever the geometry allowed. Edges were tucked cleanly so there are no exposed terminations visible under normal inspection. The curves on the SF90 are demanding. The rear haunches in particular require the film to be worked carefully to conform without distortion or lifting. We used heat and tension in the right sequence to keep the surface flat and the colour consistent across every panel. The finish across the car is uniform, with no patchwork joins where they should not be.
The Factory Paint Is Fully Protected and the Wrap Is Completely Reversible
One of the reasons wrapping makes sense on a car like this is protection. The vinyl sits over the factory paint and shields it from stone chips, light abrasion and UV exposure. When the wrap eventually comes off, the paint underneath is in the same condition as the day it went on. For a Ferrari, that matters. The factory finish holds resale value and the wrap does not compromise it. The owner can return the car to standard at any point without any remedial work to the paint. That reversibility is part of what makes wrapping the right choice for cars at this level.
